photos from Jason's day
so here's photos of yesterday's happenings. beware, there is a lot of writing in between. I just thought I'd fill all the aunts and uncles and grandparents in on the whole day. wink.
on the 23rd night, we all watched Monsters INC for his birthday movie. he enjoyed most of it. but playing was funner.
we'll watch it again once you understand what a movie really is hunnie...
Good morning my love!!
he woke up and right away noticed the balloons and dangling thingies on the walls and roof. not to mention the large box, which he opened and found to his surprise, it was a car!!!!!! sadly there was no pancake breakfast because I was so busy trying to get in the cake baking early before the day started. but he enjoyed his eggs and toast!!! they were extra special too because he got to eat them while being surrounded by kids who didn't stop reminding him that he was the birthday boy!
we took him out to McDonald's. isn't that the typical place for children? well, it was the only place we could think of that had a play place AND food in the same room. also, me and joe wanted to try the Canadian burgers...not much of a difference. actually. nothing at all!! only the large juice which was, wow, large indeed!
the party was...a success. yes, and a bit wild and hectic. but what do you expect with a whole bunch of candy craved, cake lover children?
so we had a pinata, the kind where you pull a string and hope you get lucky. and birthday boy went first, of course. and failed to pick the right string. so then I say, "Youngest to oldest everyone!" and silly me, what child will actually stand in a line and wait their turn right?? right! so some very sugar-high, over eager to get candy children decided to jump in and yank all of the strings at once. now why didn't we think of that before? of course, why wait for each string to be pulled when you can just pull all of them at once! brilliant!!
the candies fell, the children screamed and pankied like they had never seen candy in their life, and the car was yanked down, ripped open to see if there was any more candy hiding, and Jason was just clueless as to what got into them.
well, there was a fifteen dollar pinata just torn open in one shot. PTL! we also did pin the tail. I've been saving that little paper game ever since I was pg with Jason. glad to see it finally used to the max. no, there was no ripping involved, thank God. but the children enjoyed themselves nonetheless.
cake time!!
the moment I've been looking forward to for his WHOLE year!! just to see him all excited that it was HIS birthday cake, and everyone was finally singing the birthday song to HIM, and he got to finally eat his first cake and ice-cream ever...
sigh... it made everything worth it!!
of course..my attempt to make a car cake sorta went out the window because the first of all, I don't make birthday cakes...everyone who knows me well enough, knows that! and second, the icing was just drooooooooping everywhere. and third, there were children outside blowing their party whistles like some group of wild monkeys, and demanding cake!! believe me, first time making a car birthday cake, and feeling totally pressured to hurry, is so not cool...from the time I lit the candle to when it was blown out, the cake was a really sad sight. but see, I'm trying to look like a typical proud mom, bringing out the awesome work she just completed.
but all in all, it tasted good and Jason enjoyed it! and that's all that really matters most to me:)
I just hope years from now he doesn't see these photos and say, "Mom, come on, it was my first birthday, you could have given me a better cake than that!" oops, sorry hunnie...you know I tried my best!!
at first he was very petite, just one little tiny chubby finger in the cake. when I was actually hoping for his whole body to just dive in. then he went for the spoon feeding, then he sorta gave all manners out the window and dove in with his mouth. yay!! I was so happy...
then it got dark, and after he danced a whole bunch to the radio, we did some sparklers, said goodbye to the guests and headed inside.
I love him soooooooo much, I think he got too many kisses and hugs from me... poor guy...
and just when we thought he was settling down for a nice good sleep, he suddenly got all sugar-high and went crazy. you should have seen him, he couldn't even take three steps without falling down on his bum. and he decided that jumping up and down on my back was a super cool, fun thing. so that's what those two pictures are about;)
too much sugar for you sweetheart! seems as though one year of no sugar, and suddenly lots of it will do it to ya!
I hope you enjoyed yourself to the max and beyond that! I love you hunnie!!
